New Mexican Style Mexican Food
I've wanted to eat at Alexander's ever since I moved to Denver. I don't know what took me so long to get here. I went to the Denver location - right off Colorado Boulevard, behind Shotgun Willies. The place is small and funky, decorated in Southwestern style with a bar, lots of booths and plants, and cloth hot pepper design napkins. There is an outdoor patio for summer dining.
I tried the tomato, corn and zucchini burrito with hot vegetarian green chile for $6.95 and a Bohemia Beer with a lime. The green chile was nice and hot, and the burrito was wonderful - al dente zucchini - very fresh. Yummmm! It came served on a plate with a salad of romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber, broccoli, zucchini and red cabbage. Even the beer was good - I had not tried Bohemia before. A truly excellent dining experience.
The menu is marvelous for vegetarians! 54 different vegetarian dishes to choose from including burritos (including raw burritos), tamales, enchiladas, quesadillas, tacos and tortas. This is the place to eat healthy Mexican food.
Not all vegetarian burritos have beans or rice. Try the whole green bean & barley burrito smothered in either hot or mild vegetarian green chile. Or the Asparagus & bean burrito. Or the zucchini and corn tamales. Or the tofu, bean & quinoa with basil burrito. It was tough to choose.
