Pineapple
Choosing a ripe pineapple in the market is an essential skill. Pineapple does not continue to ripen or get sweeter after it is picked. To pick a perfect pineapple, pull out the center leaf. It should slide out very easily. Smell the pineapple too - if it smells fermented, it's overripe.
To cut your pineapple into chunks, slice off the top and bottom. Set the fruit upright and slice off the skin, starting at the top and slicing straight down. When all the skin is gone, cut in half lengthwise and then cut each half lengthwise so you have four long pieces. You will see the core clearly. Slice it off. Then cut the remaining pieces into chunks.
